ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL) 2019 was held in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA, from June 2 to 6, 2019.

Vice Dean Lu Wei of our school, as a co-chair, organized the Workshop which entitled "Organizing Data, Information, and Knowledge in Big Data Environments". As a member of JCDL Steering Committee, Professor Wu Dan served as the chair ofPublicationcommittee of the conference, and as a co-chair, organized and hosted the Panel which entitled "Towards a DL by the Communities and for the Communities".

JCDL 2019 attracted participants from 29 countries and regions. Under the leadership of Dean Fang Qing and Vice Dean Huang Ruhua, a delegation of 14 students and teachers from our school participated in this academic conference. The delegation had extensive and in-depth academic exchanges with experts and scholars in the field of international library science and information science.

There were 6 posters from our school accepted by JCDL 2019. Professor Wang Xiaoguang and Professor Deng Shengli had 2 posters accepted respectively, Professor Zhao Rongying and Professor Zhou Lihong had 1 poster accepted respectively. Furthermore, 5 Workshop papers written by Professor Lu Wei, Professor Wang Xiaoguang and Associate Professor Li Xuhui were accepted and presented at the workshop.

In particular, our school successfully bid for the right to host JCDL 2020 in 2018. During JCDL2019, our school delegation reported the preparations for JCDL 2020 to JCDL Steering Committee and all participants, and wasauthorized byJCDL Steering Committee. This was a full affirmation of the academic influence and preliminary preparations of our school by peers in the field of international digital library research.

During JCDL 2019, Dean Fang Qing leads our school delegation to visit School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
