From June 30th to July 2nd, the Metascience 2025 Conference was held in London. Professor Lin Zhang was invited to deliver a keynote speech.

As the only Chinese scholar invited to deliver a keynote speech at this year’s conference, Lin Zhang gave a speech titled The Development, Organization and Policy Interaction of Science of Science in China, systematically expounding on the disciplinary characteristics and development path of Science of Science in China. The speech clearly pointed out that the development of Science of Science in China presents three core features: firstly, the high degree of organization in its institutional system; secondly, the in-depth alignment with the national science and technology strategy; and thirdly, the capacity building to quickly respond to policy needs. Combining her practical experience in participating in research evaluation and science and technology policy research, Lin Zhang appealed that the future development of Science of Science should adhere to the concepts of "keeping pace with the times, serving decision-making, and promoting openness and sharing", and expressed her expectation to continuously contribute Chinese wisdom to global metascience research.
As a global high-end summit in the field of Science of Science and science and technology policy, this year’s Metascience Conference attracted more than 800 representatives from 61 countries, including academics, research funding institutions and policy-making fields. Lin Zhang was also invited to serve as member of the conference organizing committee. The conference specially invited guests such as Lord Vallance, UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, and Magdalena Skipper, Editor-in-Chief of Nature, to deliver keynote speeches. In-depth discussions were conducted around core topics such as the optimized path of scientific development and research funding, institutional innovation, and global cooperation.
