On the morning of June 16th, Sarah Wang, Local Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Aberdeen, led a delegation to visit our school, where the two sides held fruitful discussions on deepening educational cooperation. VIPs attended the meeting were as the followings:
Xiaoguang Wang, Dean of our School;

Jie Xu, Director of the Department of Publishing Science and Deputy Director of Wuhan University Publishing Research Institute.

Xiaoguang Wang extended a warm welcome to Sarah Wang, briefing the delegation on the school's developments in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, and internationalization. He highlighted the school's disciplinary strengths in information management, data science, digital publishing, and other fields, as well as its innovative practices in promoting international academic exchanges and cooperation in recent years. Noting the school's commitment to cultivating high-quality talent with a global perspective, Xiaoguang Wang expressed hopes for multi-level collaboration with the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen to explore new frontiers in educational internationalization.
Sarah Wang thanked the school for its hospitality and introduced the Confucius Institute and the University of Aberdeen. As a top British university with a rich history, she noted, the University of Aberdeen excels in interdisciplinary research and international education. The Confucius Institute, as a key platform for Sino-UK cultural exchange, has long promoted Chinese language education and culture while facilitating academic cooperation and teacher-student exchanges between Chinese and British institutions. She expressed hopes that this visit would further advance collaboration in talent development, academic research, and other domains.
During discussions, the two sides delved into projects including student volunteers, national-funded teachers, and short-term exchange programs, reaching preliminary agreements. They also exchanged views on joint academic research and international conferences, agreeing to strengthen collaboration in interdisciplinary fields like digital humanities and cultural heritage to leverage complementary strengths. Both sides expressed eagerness to inject new vitality into Sino-UK educational exchanges and expedite the implementation of cooperative initiatives.

The delegation also toured the school library and laboratories, praising the teaching facilities and research environment.
Wuhan University has a long-standing partnership with the University of Aberdeen, having co-established a Confucius Institute since 2013. The institute has conducted Chinese language programs and cultural activities in universities, communities, and primary/secondary schools across northeastern Scotland. This visit further deepened mutual understanding and solidified foundations for future collaboration.
