Paper writing and submission are essential skills for postgraduate students. In order to improve paper writing skills of postgraduate students and help them to avoid mistakes in submission process, the lecture on Writing and Submission Skills of Academic Paper Written in Chinese and English was successfully held in Meeting Room 212 of the School of Information Management at 2:30 p.m. on November 29, 2019.

Mr. Lin Liu from CQVIP.com and Mrs. Xiaodan Zhang, Librarian of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Library were invited as keynote speakers. In addition, Ran Zheng, post-doctoral student of the School of Information Management also came to the lecture to give guidance and answer questions. This lecture attracted nearly 200 postgraduate students, and the meeting room was full of thirst for knowledge.

The lecture mainly consisted of two parts. First of all, Mrs. Xiaodan Zhang focused on the common doubts and troubles in submission process. According to the submission process, she first taught students how to look up academic journals in relevant research fields in order to emphasize on research frontiers and hot topics with targeted reading, and then, narrow the submission scope to solve the problem of "finding a needle in a haystack". Next, Mrs. Zhang told students how to make a comprehensive analysis of a particular academic journal, which could help them know clearly about themselves but also their objects and make it possible that their papers never be rejected. Finally, Mrs. Zhang introduced the system's powerful analysis function, which could match papers to the most appropriate journal, improving the success rate of submission.

Later, Mr. Lin Liu demonstrated the operation of the analysis system for academic journal submission, and invited students to have on-site experience. Students actively participated in it one after another, and felt that the system was powerful, which had great reference value of recommending journal.
